EXPERIENCE EXCEL INTO INDEPENDENCE

Excel into Independence is a 501 [c] [3] nonprofit charitable organization whose mission is to provide transitional housing for young women and men ages 18 to 24 and to provide referrals for needed services. We receive on average of 15-20 phone calls a day seeking housing opportunities, education, employment and stabilization. Often times, homeless youth, young adults and their families have experienced some form of unsafe, unhealthy and unsupervised environments while living in the streets.  Unfortunately, unaccompanied homeless youth are generally between the ages of 13 to 21 and are in need of safe and temporary shelters.  Excel receives phone calls throughout the City of Chicago to Baton Rough Louisiana. Excel purpose is to successfully transition individuals who desire the need to become independent. Our goal is to provide programs, services, resources and life strategies designed to motivate those between the ages 18 and 24 and in some cases beyond the traditional age of 25 years.  Our success has included transitioning young adults from a period of 12 to a maximum of 24 months to ensure they reach their potential to successfully transition towards self-sufficiency.  We assist those the non -traditional student who have not successfully completed their high school diploma or GED, transitioning to Job Corps, and training programs throughout the City of Chicago and in their current state.
